Andrew Whittaker
What is your name and your current role with KCI?
My name is Andrew Whittaker. My current role is that of Director
of Business Planning. Based out of the Central Finance function in
the UK I am primarily involved in controlling the business planning
systems of annual Forecasting and Budgeting. My team and I are
continually involved in forward-looking activities to improve the
accuracy of financial forecasting and to identify areas of business
improvement.
Why did you choose to join KCI?
I joined KCI in 1993 as a Cost & Systems accountant in the
UK Manufacturing and R&D facility. I was able to move into the
role of Financial Controller and then also in managing the
manufacturing side of the business. It would be difficult to
imagine a more challenging and dynamic work environment. I think it
was this environment that not only brought me in to KCI but also
kept me here.
What do you like most about working for KCI?
My career with KCI has been primarily focused around finance. I
started out at a local reporting level and then was able to move
into an international role. It has been a great journey and KCI has
proven that my future is only limited by my own ambition. In KCI I
get a real buzz from having the opportunity to make a difference.
Working for KCI you always get the chance to develop something new,
something where previously no roadmap existed. For me that is the
hook.
More about you
Outside of KCI my time is wholly spent with my family. Therefore
the weekends invariably are busy times, whether it is supporting my
eldest boys’ development in a Punk band or attending my daughter’s
disco class. You can be devoted to your family and have a
successful career.
